Summer is fast approaching...

Even though it's been pretty cold around here, summer is getting closer and closer and I want to update my shop with new summer garments as soon as possible, so I'm knitting like a madwoman. So much so that my wrist is starting to give me some problems which is a little frustrating. I took a look at the spring Knitscene preview today for a little inspiration. This is a such a good issue, lots of really wearable but interesting tanks and sweaters, here are my favorites:

Fleurette Camisole by Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark
Seberg Sweater by Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark
Beulah Cardigan by Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark

Sunbeam tank by Nakia Casey
Diamonds tee by Krystin Moody
Roxborough Dolman by Courtney Kelley

Sneak peek!

Knitting is such a slow craft that it can get a little frustrating at times, I see so many succesful etsy shop owners updating their shops constantly and I wish I could have a new update every week, but sadly it's just not possible...especially since I'm also always working on other projects that won't go up on my etsy page and that take away a lot of time...sigh.
I have some cute ideas for spring and summer and I wish I could get them done quicker! Here's a little sneak peek at one summer item I'm working on right now...
I'm using a ramie-acrylic blend that I've used many times before and see that little ball of shimmery stuff? Ah I love shimmery yarn! It is unfortunately a little pricey so I don't really use it often...in this case it's going to be a contrasting border, so that's two design elements I love in one project: a contrasting trim and sparkly stuff!

A little inspiration!

The spring 2012 issue of Twist Collective is here, and I love it...
I really appreciate the fact (which is actually a little rare, especially for spring issues) that it has lots of tank tops and short sleeved garments that one would acutally wear in spring or summer. I find that lots of knitting magazines and websites that I browse for a litttle inspiration tend to have lots of garments that are pretty but look like versions of winter garments only knitted in cotton or silk instead of wool. I live and knit in a place where summer gets hot, really hot, so it's always good to find a little inspiration for tanks a short sleeved blouses etc.
Here are some of my favorite items in this issue:

Regent by Marnie MacLean
Candlewick by Christa Giles
Nyame by Julia Trice
I especially love Nyame, it's simple but stunning, I would absolutely wear that.

Caeles by Hilary Smith Callis
Edgehill by Amanda Keep
And I love the idea of turning a paisley pattern into lace like so (I had a period in my teens where I almost only wore t-shirts with paisley patterns on them, weird, I know.)...

Paisley by Fiona Ellis
Anyways...I hope to have a few spring/summer FOs soon to show you!

Incredibile knitwear

A friend of mine brought this knitwear designer to my attention and I'm in awe...I love the innovative use of texture and the contrasts between different textures, the colorwork, the attention to detail, and yes, I'll admit it, the wearability and class of the garments she designs. The designer, who studied Applied Science and worked as a Radiographer before she started studying fashion design is inspired by science and programmes her garments from x-rays and CT-scans, you can read her biography here.
Both the winter and summer collections by Brooke Roberts are absolutely amazing, just look...

F.O.: Pink open bell-sleeved cardigan

I am working at about a hundred billion different projects at the same time right now (which is getting a little confusing by the way), some of which are the last winter projects I want to get done as soon as possible. Yes, I know spring has started but it is fall right now in one half of the world isn't it? That's going to be my excuse. Sooo here is my latest F.O, it's a pink cardigan with cables and bell sleeves that can be worn in many different ways (see pictures below). I used an amazing merino wool called "Morbidone" from Rial filati which was heaven to work with, really soft and bouncy, if that makes sense... I loved using it.
I took these pictures this morning and it was kind of gray outside, and of course the sun just came out now and the lighting would be perfect for pictures now, but I'm too lazy to take them all over again...the ones I took aren't too bad anyways...
Details on my etsy page!
