F.O.: The shimmery golden summer scarf

This right here was supposed to be a quick little project to use up some of that pretty sparkly yarn I used for this jacket, but it ended up taking forever...
It came out pretty though, it's one of those accessories that have no real practical use, they're just made to look pretty and jazz up an outfit!
Details on my etsy page!

Happy first day of summer!

It's been so crazy hot lately, but I'm not complaining! I love summer, I love going out at night and not having to worry about taking a scarf or a sweater with me...
Anywhoooo, on to the knitting content, I have, as per usual, about a hundred different projects going on at the same time...I guess I'm never ever gonna be a monogamous knitter, that's just not me. One of them is a summer project involving a lovely leaf lace pattern I found on an old booklet, and I love the effect! It's definitely not one of those lace patterns you can memorise and work on without thinking much, I have to constantly look down at my pattern notes, but I think the result is well worth it. Also, this is a project I had thought up years ago, I actually had written up the whole pattern and then just abbandoned it (I have to flip back through pages and pages in my knitting notebook of other things I made in the meantime) and I just recently picked it up. Even though it is not a simple lace pattern the project is actually turning out to be a pretty fast knit, can't wait to get it done!

Etsy love: Wonderhand

While browsing through etsy I often come across some incredible shops that catch my eye, and one that particularly caught my attention recently is Wonderhand. It is an Istambul based business run by three girls who make amazing handknit garments that are both youthful and unique. I find that etsy is full of great handknit accessory stores that sell great stuff for a younger crowd, but as far as the shops that sell handknit clothing are concerned, though there are many, lots of them tend to be more for ladies in their fifties or sixties than for girls in their twenties or thirties. This is not the case with Wonderhand. The girls that run the shop were really kind and told me something more about Wonderhand and its philosophy.

As I said, it is run by three girls who live in Istambul, Turkey, and who have day jobs aside from Wonderhand. They design the pieces, choose the yarn, knit the garments and take care of the business side of running an etsy shop. This is what they told me about the concept of their shop: "Since we think every individual is one and only in the universe, we wanted to create a brand that supports this idea. Therefore we created a brand which enables you to choose the yarn, the color and the size and change it as you wish".

This allows the customer to have complete control over the end product, for instance as far as the color is concerned or in case of allergies, and the designers say that they are often stunned by the end result. By adapting the product to the single customer the result is always different and the designers say that this makes them feel like they are not doing the same job all the time, and keeps their job excting, dynamic and challenging.

Take a look at their shop to see what I mean about how incredible their work is!

I kind of wanna go back...

These are a few random pictures of a trip to Tuscany we took last month with some friends. We went to Florence, Arezzo and the Chianti area in general. It was amazing. Arezzo is breathtaking, I don't know if I'd ever been there before (maybe as a kid) and it was a really lovely surprise...
