Pink skies

The other day I was convinced by a few friends to join them for an afternoon in the park where I could study...

I swear I tried to study, I really did. But my good intentions only lasted about an hour, then I gave up. And by the time it was evening the sky looked like this...

I have to admit that even though I am complaining that I am studying most of the time and knitting with thick wool in the crazy heat, I'm actually enjoying summer so far...

Seriously, this is a nightmare...

Today I finished the famous sleeves for the second time, started sewing them on again and discovered that, while better than last time, they were still too tight! So i had to rip them out again, and start them all over again. I cannot believe it. And the irony is that all this is happening on what have been said to be the hottest days of the year.

Fireworks...

Yesterday was St.John's, patron saint of our city, which means...fireworks!

In other news, knitting news, I'm halfway throught the infamous sleeves I had to start over on, which is a good thing, and other projects are slowly coming along, at the moment I'm working on a summer sweater, a tank top and a summer scarf, can't wait to finish them all!

I want to cry...

Remember the wool sweater I was talking about the other day? The one I was almost done with? Weeeell, I finished the sleeves today and after sewing one on I realized they were way way too tight! That means I'm going to have to rip them out and start them over again...In case you were wondering, that's more than a week's worth of work I'm going to be ripping out tomorrow...oh the pain!
Luckily it's a winter sweater so the girl wouldn't have worn it anyways till at least october/november...but still, I want to cry.
(The picture is an old picture of me from 2009, but it fits the mood quite well)

Happy first day of summer!

Today is the first day of summer and I spent all morning studying and knitting a woolen sweater. Yes I was knitting on the 21st of june with wool, and thick wool too. Why? Because I am almost 2 years behind on a custom order from a friend's friend and I really want to get it done! Aaaaah, I feel so bad that it always takes me so long to finish custom orders and that people have to wait so much to get them! I'm almost done with this one, I should be able to finish it in the next few days, but then I have other custom orders waiting, all of which are winter garments...I don't know, I'll probably start the next one and work on it till it's too hot to bear and then take a summer break from wool. Luckily it's still not too hot inside the house even though it's pretty warm outside...

Side note: the exam I was studying for today...I failed miserably. And for pretty stupid f*ing reasons too. And I won't be able to take it again till september. Please excuse me while I go bang my head against a wall for a while.

Different ways

One of the things I look for most when buying a piece of clothing is versatility. It makes me feel like I'm not waisting my money (or not as much, cause honestly, I know I don't really need what I'm buying most of the time) if I know I can wear that item in many different ways and many different combinations (am I a little obsessed with these things? uhm maybe).
I've seen this done on a few blogs here and there and on a few fashion magazines so I'm going to go ahead and copy this idea...here are 4 different ways I came up with of wearing the light blue tank top (http://www.etsy.com/listing/72548027/light-blue-tank-top-with-scallop-trim?ref=pr_shop):

Please excuse the quality of the pictures, they were taken with my small camera and the lighting wasn't the best...

Food and wine

A few pics of Saturday evening. With a bunch of friends we went to a gastronomical fair in Moncalvo. Good food, wine and good company...not too bad, not too bad...

Cibo buono, vino e buona compagnia, pas mal pas mal...

You can't really tell from this picture but my friend G. is wearing a purple Oli creations scarf, a little gift for having helped me out with starting the blog since I'm pretty useless with technology..

Life lately...

Lately my life is mostly consisting of this:

...studying and knitting a new summer project that I'm really hoping comes out the way it is in my mind.
That happens everytime I knit something, I have an idea in my head and I really hope the final result looks something like that idea. Mostly it does, sometimes it ends up completely different but I like it anyways, other times it just doesn't work out, and I have to face that horrible question: keep it, or rip it out? As painful as the second option is, it's usually the wisest, if I don't like something I don't want to sell it, it just doesn't feel right.

Oh, and another typical activity these days has been playing with this little fella:
But then again, that I do more or less all the time...

Some old stuff

While browsing through photos of my projects to upload them on the Spring/Summer page I came across a few pictures of items I had made a while ago and have sold already. I thought I'd share a few of my favorites...some of these items have been sold to close friends and it's always a great feeling seeing your stuff being worn by someone, especially by a friend!

I don't know if you can see it in the picture but this one has little rose-shaped buttons...they were so cool, I found them in Germany 3 years ago...
I loved this variegated yarn, which I also bought in Germany. The effect with the wavy lace pattern was really cool.

Flashback

This is a picture my dad took of me this winter at a Christmas market/country fair in a little town out in the countryside. I was trying to sell my handmade garments and my dad was helping out, and he brought some of his best photos with him to try and sell those too.
That day did. not. go. well. at. all. Not only did neither me nor my dad sell anything, but he also got sick from standing in the cold all day (it wasn't too cold, only a few degrees below zero, but still not a comfortable temperature to stand still all day in) AND we broke a portable ikea mirror I always used to take with me at these events for potential customers to check themselves out in. And yes, if you're superstitious that is 7 years of bad luck (unless a virgin pees on it but that would have been a little complicated).
Also, to top it off, we had spent quite a bit of money to get the cool wooden Santa hut you see in the picture. But still, to look on the bright side of things, the day presented an opportunity to take some cool pictures (especially my dad) like the one above, to do a lot of people-watching, which is always fun, and the town was pretty cool, see picture of the castle below.
Side note: see the hat I'm wearing? It's handmade, my mom made it when I was little and I still use it. Most of the hats and scarves I wear in winter are somehow from my childhood, don't really know why...

Oh yeah, so now I have a blog...

Because I didn't already have enough distractions from my studying, I decided to start a blog about one of my other distractions: Oli Creations. I'll be posting about my knitting endeavors, all the lovely little things I make (because in my opinion they are, indeed, lovely) and maybe some other likewise vital and life-defining stuff...like, I don't know, pictures of my cats? Fashion related articles? We shall see, we shall see...hope you enjoy!

Vedremo, vedremo...
