An interesting combination...

...of pastel colors, ultrafeminine shapes with a retro feel to them and race cars and flames. I find the Prada ad campaign for spring/summer 2012 really beautiful, I love how it combines polished and aggressive, and it somehow made me think of Grease, of a mix of T-birds and Pink ladies, but in a more grown-up version...yes, yes, I like it indeed.

F.O.: The fluffy brown vest!

Heeeello there! Here's a new F.O. (haven't had any of those in a while)...the fluffy brown vest! I used a pretty boucle yarn in a reddish-brown shade and some brown shiny plastic buttons...it has an A-line shape and a peter pan collar...details on my etsy page!

Buooongiorno!

Sneak peek!

Here's a few close up pictures of the lace detail on a sweater I'm working on (the one I mentioned the other day that is taking me forever to finish)...I found the pattern for the lace on an old knitting magazine. I love browsing through old knitting magazines searching for pretty lace patterns I can use, usually patterns I find on horrible 90's sweaters but that I can apply to more up-to-date and wearable sweaters I design...can't wait to finish this sweater (and to go look for some pretty buttons for it!).

Etsy love!

I've been a little busy lately, going through dusty archives of the 1600's for my thesis (and freaking out over how the handwriting of that era is absolutely impossible to read), but I did find a little time to take a look at a few interesting etsy shops...here are my favorites this week:

Crochet cherry red lace scarf by VitalTemptation.
Vintage knitted top from youngcaptive.
I have an F.O. to show you as soon as I find the time to take pictures of it, and I'm working on a sweater which is taking forever to make but of which I want to show you a sneak peek...again, as soon as I have time to take pictures! Good thing the days are getting longer so there are more hours of natural light...

A few months ago a friend of mine brought this brand to my attention. She used to work in a store that sold items from Sessùn and she owns a few things herself. I really love the style of this brand, lots of pretty patterns, peter pan collars, ruffles and color! And by lots of color I really mean lots of different colors, not just orange and teal, which are basically the only colors you would see in stores in Torino this winter... (I repeated the word "colors" three times in that sentence, my middle and highschool teachers would definitely not be proud right now).
Sessùn was created 15 years ago by Emma François, an anthropology student from Montepellier who found inspiration for her career in fashion while travelling, especially in South America...you can read her biography here (it's in french).
