F.O.: Sand - beige summer tank top

Here's my first summer F.O. of the year! It's a very simple tank top in a pretty sand - beige 100 % cotton yarn. I basically made up the cable detail on the bottom as I went...I wanted something simple that somehow reminded me of plants and leaves (which I think fits perfectly with the natural/neutral color of the yarn) and in alternating lengths. I'm happy with the way the top turned out. I had pictured a longer top in my mind than how it turned out once I cast it off and seamed the pieces together, but I like this look. I think this top has an earthy look and is really perfect for hot hot summer days...

Ecco il mio primo capo finito estivo dell'anno! Si tratta di un top estivo molto semplice realizzato in puro cotone, di un colore beige - sabbia. Per quanto riguarda il dettaglio in basso l'ho inventato man mano che lavoravo...volevo qualcosa che ricordasse un po' delle foglie o degli alberi e di lunghezze alternate, e mi piace com'è venuto, trovo stia molto bene con il colore neutro e naturale del cotone. Sono contenta del risultato, mi ero immaginata un top un po' più lungo rispetto a come è venuto fuori una volta cucito, ma mi piace comunque anche di questa lunghezza, trovo sia perfetto per l'estate, semplice, fresco, naturale...

Finishing off the last winter projects... F.O.: Light blue mohair sweater

I've been silent for a while but now I'm back with an F.O.! I'm finishing off my last winter projects and will have some spring-summer F.O.s to show you soon enough!
For this sweater I used a lovely mohair yarn (80% mohair and 20% acrylic) in this pretty shade of light blue. Since the color is quite intense and the mohair yarn has that pretty aura of fluff, I decided to keep the lines simple so the sweater is short and slightly boxy and the only decorative element is the detail of the borders, cuffs and v-neck where I used a really simple textured stitch that I've been slightly obsessed with lately (I'm using it in many other projects, I just love it's simplicity). Until now I used this stitch with regular wool that had good stitch definition but I love the effect of the same stitch done in mohair wool where it sort of gets lost in all the fluff, you can see the difference in the last two pictures, I love how the textured stitch sort of blends into the stockinette stitch in the mohair wool...

Non mi sono fatta viva per un po' ma ci sono! E ho pure un capo finito da mostrarvi... Sto finendo gli ultimi capi invernali e iniziando quelli estivi di cui ne avrò un paio da mostrarvi fra non molto.
Per quanto riguarda questo maglione ho usato una lana mohair (80% mohair e 20% acrilico) in questo bel tono di azzurro. Essendo la lana pelosa e il colore abbastanza intenso ho deciso di tenere le linee semplici, la maglia è infatti dritta, corta e morbida sui fianchi con l'unico dettaglio del punto a maglie spezzate sui bordi, polsi e sullo scollo a V. Ultimamente questo punto lo sto infilando un po' ovunque, mi piace moltissimo nella sua semplicità, ed è interessante vedere come cambia se lo si usa con una lana normale con una buona definizione del punto e con il mohair dove si perde un po' nella pelosità del filato (vedi foto in basso).

An F.O., an etsy update and a big fat fail...

First off...the F.O. Here's a scarf I finished a few weeks ago. I knit it in a great chunky pure wool I've used a few times before. As far as the stitch is concerned I used this pretty wavy stitch that I had seen in a pattern that used it with a thin cotton yarn, and I was curious about what it would look like in a chunky wool like this one...I really like it! What do you think?

Prima di tutto il capo finito. Questa è una sciarpa che ho finito due settimane fa. Ho usato un bellissimo filato grosso in pura lana, e come punto ho provato questo bel punto ondulato che avevo trovato in un modello che usava del cotone sottile...ero curiosa di vedere l'effetto dello stesso punto lavorato con della lana grossa...e direi che mi piace! Che dite?

 Moving on...the etsy update! Here's a sweater I made a while ago but never ended up putting on etsy...till now! It's knit in a wool acrylic blend using a dropped stitch pattern, it has raglan sleeves and a slightly boxy shape. I love the light blue yarn because if you look real close you can see it has tiny red threads weaved into it, I love that detail, I think you can see it in the close up picture.


Poi abbiamo...questa maglia che in realtà ho fatto abbastanza tempo fa ma non avevo ancora messo su etsy...finora! Ho usato un misto lana, un punto a maglie cadute e la maglia è morbida e con le maniche a raglan. Mi piace moltissimo la lana azzurra perchè se la si guarda da vicino si vede che ha dei piccolissimi fili rossi che la rendono appena un po' melange, mi piace moltissimo quel dettaglio, penso si veda nella foto da vicino.

And now...the painful part... 
Sooooo, yesterday I stayed up real late to finish off a sweater I was really happy about. When I finally finished the seaming, I noticed that the side seams were a littke bit wonky and had to be redone. Now, the wise option would have been: go to bed, sleep on it, fix it the next day. But me, I'm not a patient person. And not too wise either. So what I did was I started undoing the seams, and then I pulled and cut the wrong thread. Disaster. I'm still hurting a little inside as I type this. I managed to patch things up, so the sweater is wearable but definitely not ok to sell. I'm keeping it for myself, and I actually really like it, even with the noticeable imperfection in the back, but still, I was really looking forward to putting this sweater up on etsy. Oh well...lesson learned, don't fix things at night. Ever. Again.

E ora la parte più dolorosa...
Ieri sera sono rimasta su fino a tardi a finire una maglia che mi piaceva moltissimo. Quando ho finalmente finito di cucirla mi son accorta che le cuciture laterali non erano venute benissimo e che erano da rifare. Fossi stata una donna saggia e lungimirante, sarei andata a dormire e avrei affrontato il problema il giorno dopo. Solo che io non sono proprio paziente. E neanche particolarmente saggia o lungimirante. Così ho deciso di smontare e rifare le cuciture subito. Peccato che nella fretta e nella stanchezza ho tirato e tagliato il filo sbagliato. Disastro totale. Muoio ancora un pochino dentro se ci penso. Per fortuna son riuscita a recuparare un po' la situazione, e il maglione è portabile, però purtroppo è rimasto fallato quindi non posso venderlo. Ho deciso di tenermelo (mi lamento sempre che ho pochissime cose fatte da me), però mi dispiace lo stesso perchè non vedevo l'ora di metterlo su etsy...
Vabbeh, ho imparato una lezione. Non aggiustare niente di notte. Mai.

I haven't been up to much aside from studying and studying and studying and writing and writing and writing. I will have a few F.O.s to show you soon enough though!

And here's another recent F.O.! I bought the yarn for this when I was in the mountains, and I love it, it's slightly rustic, the color is a really pretty light blue with a little bit of white in it and I really love how it looks with the dropped stitch pattern.

Ed ecco un altro capo che ho finito di recente! La lana l'ho comprata quando ero in montagna ed è stupenda, un po' rustica e di un bellissimo azzurro leggerissimamente mélange perchè ha dentro un po' di bianco...e trovo stia molto bene col punto a maglie cadute.

F.O.: Blue and gray hat and scarf set

Hello there! Here's another F.O. I finished recently...it's a pretty scarf and hat set in a variegated yarn in blue and gray. I loved this yarn, it's thin, lovely to work with, has great stitch definition, and it's dry, no fluff at all, but still soft. It's 75% wool and 25% acrylic. I used the feather stitch on the scarf and on the rim of the hat to get that lovely wavy effect which I always love with variegated yarns and the pom pom is a final addition I hadn't planned but that I think looks perfect!

Buongiorno! Ecco un altro dei capi che ho finito da poco...si tratta di un completo con cappellino e sciarpa che ho realizzato usando una bellissima lana mélange blu e grigia (composizione: 75% lana, 20% acrilico). La lana mi è piaciuta moltissimo da lavorare, sottile, asciutta ma morbida e che funziona benissimo con questo tipo di punto. Ho usato il punto pavone sulla sciarpa e sul bordo del cappellino perchè mi piace l'effetto ondulato che produce combinato con l'effetto mélange della lana e il pom pom è un'aggiunta finale che inizialmente non avevo previsto e che penso stia benissimo!
